Eileen Rose Hoffman, age 80, of Carroll passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at her home in Carroll surrounded by her family. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, January 5, 2018 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll with Fr. Kevin Richter as Celebrant. Lectors for the Mass will be Sean and Emily Staudt. Music for the Mass will be by the Holy Spirit Choir with Barb McDermott as organist. Gift bearers will be Rick and Randy Hoffman and Rhonda Jameson. Casket bearers will be her grandsons Clint Pudenz, Steven Pudenz, Asa Hoffman, Dayton Hoffman, Cole Hoffman, and Jace Hoffman. Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 4:00 P.M. on Thursday where there will be a Rosary at 5:00 P.M. and a Christian Wake Service at 6:30 P.M. The casket will be moved to Holy Spirit Church at 9:30 A.M. on Friday where visitation will resume until the time of Mass. Eileen grew up in the Lidderdale area and attended Immanuel Lutheran School and graduated from Glidden High School in 1955. Following high school she attended Commercial Extension Business School for secretarial training. She was married to Richard Hoffman. Eileen and Dick owned and operated Hoffman Painting for many years. She worked part time at Hy-Vee for six years and did volunteer work at New Hope Village and St. Anthony Nursing Home. Eileen enjoyed reading, traveling, embroidery, word puzzles, and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. Eileen is survived by a daughter Rhonda Jameson (Steve) of Holyhead, Anglesey, North Wales; two sons: Randy Hoffman (Amy) of Carroll and Rick Hoffman (Carolyn) of Templeton; nine grandchildren: Clint Pudenz (Kristin) of Des Moines, Elizabeth Folsom (Travis) of Rockwell City, Steven Pudenz (Kayce) of Carroll, Emily Staudt (Sean) of Wisconsin, Asa Hoffman of Ankeny, Dayton Hoffman of Ames, Cole Hoffman of Ankeny, Jace Hoffman of Carroll, and Becka Jameson of Holyhead, Anglesey, North Wales; eight great grandchildren: Kolin, Megan, Jase, Barrett, Bentley, Allison, Avery, Elise, and Nora; a brother Robert Subbert of Panora; two sisters-in-law: Bev Subbert of Mead, NE, and Pat Subbert of Panora. Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard in 1998, and two brothers: Jerome and John Subbert.
