Edwin Jensen, age 87, of Carroll, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2011 at the Carroll Health Center in Carroll.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, August 8, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church in Carroll with Rev. Dennis Bailey officiating. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 5:00 P.M. on Sunday where there will be a prayer service held at 7:00 P.M.. The casket will be moved to the church at 9:00 A.M. on Monday where visitation will resume until the time of service. Organist for the service will be Ellen Severin. Burial will be in the Lanesboro Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Jeff Jensen, Joel Jensen, Mike Prall, Greg Prall, Brad Mount, and Terry Mount. Honorary casket bearers will be Jim Stouten, Fred Stouten, and Kenny Stouten.
Born on May 5, 1924, at Irwin, Iowa, he was the son of Peter and Hazel (Hested) Jensen. He moved to Lanesboro, Iowa at an early age where he attended grade and high school. Ed entered the United States Army on May 4, 1943 and served his country during World War II in Africa, Italy, France, and Germany as an ambulance driver. He was honorably discharged on November 6, 1945.
On November 12, 1946 he married Darlene Mount at her parent’s farm home near Lanesboro with Rev. Miller officiating. The couple made their home in Carroll where he was employed by J.W. Hills Motor Company for 18 years as an auto mechanic. In 1964 he was employed by Boyd Inc. in Lake City, Iowa until his retirement in 1986.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Carroll and the Maurice Dunn Post of the American Legion in Carroll. Ed enjoyed baseball, Iowa Hawkeye basketball, playing cards, fishing, and he loved spending time with his nieces and nephews.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years Darlene of Carroll, Iowa; his brother Marvin and his wife Wanda of Des Moines, Iowa; a sister Mary Jane Prall and her husband Ed of Carlisle, Iowa; sister-in-laws: Linda Mount of Austin, Minnesota, Janice Mount of St. Louis, Missouri, and Nona Mount of Carroll, Iowa; a brother-in-law Verlon Mount of Harrison, Arkansas; and several nieces and nephews. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, his father and mother-in-law Albert and Gladys Mount, a sister-in-law June Stouten, and brothers-in-law James Mount and Ray Stouten.
