Edward Anton Puck, age 69, of Carroll passed away on Friday, April 28, 2017 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll with Pastor Brian Licht officiating. Organist will be Sylvia Streufert. Casket bearers will be Cameron Arnold, Connor Arnold, Wayne Heuss, Gary Borkowski, Dr. John Evans, Bill Thompson, Dick Tadsen, Arlo Buck, Dean Taggart, and Lawrence Klocke. Graveside services will be will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday at the Manning Cemetery with Military Honors by the Manning American Legion. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 5:00 P.M. on Friday where there will be a prayer service held at 6:30 P.M. The casket will be moved to St. Paul Lutheran Church at 9:30 A.M. on Saturday where visitation will resume until the time of service. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com Born on April 22, 1948 on his family’s farm in Cameron Township in Audubon County, IA, Ed was the son of Edward and Helen (Moeckl) Puck. He grew up in Audubon County and graduated from Audubon High School in 1966. He was active in FFA in high school serving as state vice president, he was co-captain of the wrestling team his senior year, and he was also active in 4-H. Following high school, Ed worked for Audubon County and then served two years in the United States Army stationed in Vietnam. He was married to Vicki Budatz on June 21, 1969 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Audubon. The couple made their home in Audubon where Ed drove a milk truck for Rich Miller and then worked as a lineman for Iowa Public Service. Ed and Vicki moved to Carroll in 1991 and Ed was employed by Mid-American Energy as a design technician retiring in 2003. Before becoming ill, Ed worked for Puck Custom Enterprises in Manning as an inventory specialist. While living in Audubon Ed was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, where he served as Elder, and was also a member of the V.F.W. After moving to Carroll, he was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Ed enjoyed fishing, watching college wrestling, and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. He was a gifted craftsman and loved to fix things and help his children with remodeling projects at their homes. Ed is survived by his wife Vicki of Carroll; two daughters: Stacy Arnold (Jay) of Dallas, TX, and Amy Rost (Dan) of Austin, TX; two sons Greg Puck (Cecily) of St. Clair Shores, MI, and Brad Puck (Athena) of Ames; eight grandchildren: Cecily Blok, Aynsley Woolard, Cameron Arnold, Connor Arnold, Jordan Hansen, Evan Arnold, Taylor Puck, and Cody Puck; four great grandchildren; two sisters: Wanda Johnson (Al) of Oro Valley, AZ, and Helen Ernst of Carroll; two brothers: Garry Puck of Manning and Ben Puck (Kathy) of Manning; two sisters-in-law: Judith Wilson of Ogden and Linda Borkowski of Carroll; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ed was preceded in death by his parents Ed and Helen Puck; his mother and father-in-law Bill and Lois Budatz; a sister Ella Lauritsen; sister-in-law Becky Puck and brothers-in-law: Steven Ernst, Earl Lauritsen and Dan Wilson.
