Edward Alvin Petersen

Edward Alvin Petersen, age 92, of Carroll, IA, passed away on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Journey Senior Services in Carroll.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, May 7, 2021 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Pastor Ryan Roehrig of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll officiating.  Organist for the service will be Abe Batten.  Casket bearers will be Ed’s family members.  Burial will be in the Cameron Cemetery near Audubon.

Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home on Friday from 1 – 2 P.M. prior to the service.

Those in attendance at Ed’s service are asked to abide by Covid-19 guidelines and facemasks are required at the funeral home.

Ed was born on April 24, 1929 on his family’s farm on the Carroll – Audubon County line and he was the son of Hans and Katherine (Loeffler) Petersen.  He spent his early childhood in Carroll County.  Ed started farming for Mr. and Mrs. Albert Albertsen in 1944 with his brother Leo.  Ed lived on the home place three miles west and three miles south of Dedham for 35 years.  Ed was married to Ruth Lorraine Kramer on December 13, 1964 at Zion Lutheran Church at Beaver Township, Humboldt, IA.  Ed was a farmer at heart and also enjoyed raising livestock.

Ed is survived by his brother Leo Petersen of Templeton, IA.  He was preceded in death by his parents Hans and Katherine Petersen and his wife Ruth in 1992.
