Ed Holstein

Edward W. Holstein, age 91, of Carroll, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, August 8, 2010 at the Carroll Health Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Pastor David Anthony and Pastor Brian Licht officiating. Organist for the service will be Jan Hoff. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 5:00 P.M. on Tuesday where there will be a prayer service held at 7:00 P.M.. Casket bearers will be Ed’s nephews. Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com Born on May 22, 1919, he was the son of Gustov and Emma (Meinke) Holstein. He was baptized on November 23, 1919 and confirmed on June 21, 1945 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll. Ed grew up in Carroll and graduated from Carroll High School. He worked for the Carroll County Engineer’s Office for 40 years as a surveyor. He was married to Arlene Dorothy Popp on June 4, 1949. Ed was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll. Surviving are several nieces and nephews; his special friend Marola Martens of Carroll; and the loving and caring staff at the Carroll Health Center. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, four brothers: Louis, August, Walter, Elmer, and a sister Elsie.
