He was baptized and confirmed in the Wheatland Presbyterian Church by Reverend Walters. Earl attended school at Jackson Township #1 and then in Wall Lake through the tenth grade. Earl then went to pick potatoes in Idaho with friends. After returning, he was a farmhand for a short time and then a lifelong farmer.    On September 26, 1942, Earl was united in marriage with Lorene Pfoltner at Maryville, Missouri. Earl and Lorene farmed near Manning and moved into Manning after their farm sale in 1978. Lorene died in 2002.    Earl was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where he served as Elder and on the finance committee. He also served Iowa Township as a trustee, on the election board and as school director for Iowa #7. Earl enjoyed fishing, gambling, visiting, gardening, card playing and plain goofing off.    In January of 2011, after suffering stroke, Earl became a resident of the Manning Plaza Nursing Home where he died Saturday, January 28, 2012. He was ninety-four years of age.    Earl is survived by three sisters-in-law: Bernice Pfannkuch of Manilla and Phyllis Callender and Kay Pfannkuch of Manning; and many nieces and nephews.    He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers: Ludwig Pfannkuch, Marvin Pfannkuch and wife Viola, Francis Pfannkuch in infancy, Kenneth Pfannkuch and wife Lucille and Donald Pfannkuch; sisters: Edna Ramsey and husband John Sr., and Irene Olson and husband Clifford; a sister-in-law Erika “Kitty” Pfoltner and husband Harold.
