Earl Leroy Liechti, age 79, of Arcadia, Iowa passed away on Friday, April 30, 2010 at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Ft. Dodge, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Rev. Ken Ferguson officiating. Organist for the service will be Mrs. Ellen Severin and vocalists will be Rebecca Liechti, Mindy Liechti, and Alan Bolger. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 5:00 P.M. on Tuesday where there will be a prayer service held at 7:00 P.M. Casket bearers will be John Liechti, Roger Liechti, Gene Liechti, Terry Anderson, Ed Vogl, and Tim Vogl. Honorary casket bearers will be Josh Liechti, Nik Rasmussen, Richard Meyer, Vic Wernimont, Kevin Liechti, Jay Liechti, Neil Liechti, Blake Liechti, and Kyle Liechti. Burial will be in the Arcadia Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Arcadia American Legion.
Born on September 18, 1930 at Carroll, Iowa, he was the son of John H. “Jack” and Grace (McQuaid) Liechti. He grew up in the Arcadia area and graduated from the Arcadia High School in 1948. He served from 1954 – 1956 in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict with the 31st Field Artillery. He was married to Jeanett Anderson on November 15, 1959 at the Presbyterian Church in Arcadia. Earl was a lifelong farmer in the Arcadia area. He drove a semi and was a co-owner of Liechti Brothers Trucking from 1959 - 1985. He later drove for Jurgens Produce and Feed from 1987 – 2000. In his spare time Earl enjoyed spending time with his family, listening to orchestra and big band music, visiting with his friends, driving, keeping up on current news, and country living.
Surviving are his wife Jeanett of Arcadia; a daughter Joleen Bolger (Alan) of Grimes, Iowa; a son Dean Liechti of Carroll; a daughter Joan Hansen (David) of Sac City; a son Darrell Liechti of Carroll; a daughter Jan Rasmussen (Tim) of Sioux City; a son Dan Liechti (Mindy) of Sheldon, Iowa; a son Dale Liechti (Rebecca) of Carroll; a daughter Jamie Liechti of Wall Lake; two grandsons: Josh Liechti (fiancé Kenzie Mohr) and Nik Rasmussen; a great granddaughter Jayda; a sister-in-law Ruth Liechti of Arcadia; a brother-in-law Wayne Anderson (Betty) of Carroll; a brother-in-law Clarence Ludwig of Breda; a sister-in-law Zelda Anderson of Arcadia; and three nephews: John, Roger, and Gene Liechti. Earl was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Mac.
