Dwight Merle Fiscus

Dwight Merle Fiscus, age 86, of Carroll passed away on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at Copper Creek Memory Care in Chandler, AZ.

A private funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Pleasant Ridge Community Church near Glidden with Duane Bundt officiating.  Burial will be in Highland Cemetery near Churdan, IA.

Dwight was born on May 5, 1935 on his family’s farm north of Jefferson.  He grew up on the farm until his family moved to Perry where he attended school.  Dwight worked as a semi driver for Crouse Cartage for 38 years.  He was married to Rheta Brody on April 21, 1957 at the First Baptist Church in Churdan.  To this union four children were born: Steve, Jeff, Michael, and Elizabeth.  The couple has made their home in Carroll for the past 63 years spending the winters in Arizona since Dwight’s retirement in 1998.  Dwight enjoyed truck rodeos and placed first six times in Iowa.  He also went to Nationals in different cities representing Crouse Cartage with his driving skills.  Dwight loved to go camping with his family and loved to ride his motorcycle with his wife for vacations in the summertime.  He had a great love for football and in later years he enjoyed remote controlled airplanes.  He served as president of band boosters and he and Rheta chaperoned many band trips while their kids were in school.  In retirement, Dwight enjoyed helping Hoyle Farms with harvest.

Dwight is survived by his wife Rheta Fiscus of Carroll; his children and their families: son Steve Fiscus (Rhonda) of Maricopa, AZ, son Jeff Fiscus (Brenda) of Lake View, son Mike Fiscus (Linda Dixon) of Casa Grande, AZ, and daughter Elizabeth Smith (Troy) of Chandler, AZ; six grandchildren: Kelli Fiscus, Ashley Fiscus, Christopher Fiscus (Rebecca), Brittney Smith, Tanner Smith, and Brody Smith; three great-grandchildren: Skyler, Drew, and Erika; two brothers: Dwayne Fiscus of Jefferson and Delbert Fiscus (Marilyn) of Carroll; his in-laws: Rozetta Fiscus of Wichita, KS, Patricia Kauffman (Larry) of Goshen, IN, David Brody (Jean) of Glidden, Ann Brody-Meyer (Donald Buswell) of Carroll; and many nieces and nephews.

Dwight was preceded in death by his parents Clifford and Josie May Fiscus; his mother and father-in-law Beulah and Wayne Brody; a brother Dean Fiscus; amd sister-in-law Marjorie Fiscus.
