Duane Anthony “Tony” Bluml, age 58, of Carroll, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2011 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll, Iowa.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, June 2, 2011 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll with Father Tim Johnson as celebrant. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday where there will be a rosary at 4 p.m. and a Christian Wake Service at 7 p.m. by the parish. The casket will be taken to the church at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday where visitation will resume until the time of mass. Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Randy Bierl, Gary Stark, Don Schon, Ray Billmeier, Kim Tiefenthaler, Mike Knerl, Terry Ruchti, and Tom Duff. Honorary casket bearers will be “MC’s Round Table coffee gang” - Bob Headlee, Dave Malin, Chuck Thatcher, Tom Rogers, Dave Quandt, Gary Tiefenthaler and John Hall.
Lector for the mass will be Ashley Bluml and Terry Kasperbauer. Gift bearers will be Dwight Bluml, Dean Bluml and Dawn Bluml. Eucharistic ministers will be Judy Feld and and Dorothy Dunphy. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Saint Anthony Regional Hospice and Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

He was born on October 11, 1952, at Carroll, Iowa and was the son of Otto and Bette (Kasperbauer) Bluml. He was married to Linda Conrad on September 17, 1977 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll, Iowa and they have lived in Carroll their entire married life. Tony graduated from Kuemper High School in 1970.
Tony has been in the self-employed insurance/financial investment business for the past 27 years. He and Linda went on many incentive insurance trips to locations including Pebble Beach, Palm Desert, Burmuda, London, Monte Carlo, and Switzerland to name a few. Tony was an avid golfer and has played many famous golf courses and his most memorable was St. Andrews Golf Course in Scotland. While in the insurance business Tony became a member of the prestigious “Million Dollar Round Table” organization. Tony was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and the Carroll Country Club. He loved and enjoyed going on golfing trips with his many friends and went 2-3 times a year to Bella Vista, Arkansas. For many years Tony was part of the “CHS football chain gang.” He never missed his morning coffee at MC’s with his coffee gang. Tony’s great sense of humor will be missed by family and friends.
Surviving are his wife Linda, of Carroll, son Chad Bluml of Halbur, and son Corey Bluml of Carroll. His mother Bette Bluml, of Carroll, two brothers, Dwight and his wife Sharla of Arcadia, Dean and his wife Shirlee of Omaha, Nebraska and a sister Dawn Bluml of Carroll. Brother-in-law Reg Conrad of Ida Grove, sister-in-laws Diane (Mike) Sikkema of Carroll, Janet (Denny) Wilkins of Westminster, CO and Kim (Brian) Goetzinger of Ankeny, Iowa. He is also survived by 11 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Otto Bluml and his father and mother-in-law Harold and Lois Conrad.
