Duane C. Heuton

Duane C. Heuton, age 85, of Carroll passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at St. John Lutheran Church in Carroll with Rev. Cindy Johnson officiating. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 5:00 P.M. on Monday where there will be a prayer service held at 6:30 P.M. The casket will be moved to the church at 9:00 A.M. on Tuesday where visitation will resume until the time of service. Organist for the service will be Jan Potthoff and the congregation will sing. Casket bearers will be Cory Henson, Joseph Henson, Matthew Wenck, Mark Wenck, Joshua Heuton, and Mike Grandgennett. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery near Lidderdale. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com Born on March 14, 1930 in Carroll, he was the son of Clarence and Lorraine (Wohlenberg) Heuton. Duane grew up on the Heuton family farm north of Lidderdale and he was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lidderdale. He graduated from Carroll High School in 1947 and was married to Betty Johnston on January 22, 1949 in Omaha. The couple lived near Lidderdale for several years before moving to a farm near Nemaha in Sac County where they farmed and raised their family. Duane and Betty moved back to the home place north of Lidderdale in 1970 where he continued to farm and operated a corn shelling and trucking business. Duane retired in 1990 when he and Betty moved to their current home in Carroll. In retirement he helped his sons John and Jeff in their construction business. Duane enjoyed fishing, gardening, making salsa and barbeque sauce, canning pickles, going to the casino, going to coffee with the boys at Hy-Vee, but most of all spending time with his family and many good friends. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lidderdale. Duane is survived by his wife Betty of Carroll; two daughters: Cheri Henson and her husband LaVern of Carroll and Cindy Wenck and her husband Scott of Lidderdale; two sons: John Heuton and his wife Carlyss of rural Carroll and Jeffrey Heuton of Carroll; 8 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; a brother Roland Heuton and Darlene Onken of Carroll; two sisters: Vi Gute and her husband Frank of Carroll and Verna Craig of Muscatine; a sister-in-law Jan Heuton of Lake City; a sister-in-law Joyce Johnston of Leggitt, TX; a brother-in-law Charles Lambert and his wife Connie of Houston, TX; and several nieces and nephews. Duane was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Dennis and Roger Heuton, and two grandsons David Wenck and Ryan Heuton.
