Duane “Buck” Junior Sheer, age 85, of Bayard passed away on Monday, January 9, 2017 at his home in Bayard surrounded by his family. A visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids where the family will greet friends from 5 – 7 P.M. on Thursday, January 12, 2017. A private family graveside service will be held at Willow Township Cemetery near Coon Rapids. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwooodhouse.com Born on February 23, 1931 on his family’s farm near Coon Rapids in Guthrie County, he was the son of Calvin and Leona (Gustoff) Sheer. He graduated from Bayard High School in 1948. Duane farmed with his Dad and brothers in Greene County. He was married to Betty June Dillinger on March 8, 1950 in Scranton. The couple made their home north of Bayard where they farmed and raised their two daughters. Duane enjoyed fishing and taking a yearly trip to Canada. Duane is survived by his wife Betty of Bayard; two daughters: Barb Stone of Bayard and Cindy Bielenberg (Dan) of Bagley; two grandchildren: Justan Bielenberg (Trish) of Bayard and Kali Hall (Ben) of Carroll; five great grandchildren: Jakob, Ryan, Dailen, Kole, and Macie; a sister Rosabelle Busby of Johnston; a sister-in-law Opal Berard of West Des Moines; and several nieces and nephews. Duane was precede in death by his parents Calvin and Leona Sheer and two brothers: Howard and Harold Sheer.
