Dr. Allen Dolliver Anneberg, also known as “Duke” or “Doc” was born April 26, 1930 in Carroll, IA. He was the son of Dr. Walter Allen and Margaret (Dolliver) Anneberg. Doc attended Carroll High School graduating valedictorian of his class in 1948. He attended the University of Iowa, graduating from medical school in 1955.  Allen had an internship at Detroit Receiving Hospital. In 1957 he was drafted and served as a medical doctor in the United States Army Medical Corp in Landstuhl, Germany, where he reached the rank of captain. He was honorably discharged after 2 years of service. He returned from overseas and did his residency in Michigan at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital for 3 years, including 2 months at Johns Hopkins University and 3 months at the University of Michigan. Allen became a board certified OB/GYN doctor.

On December 5, 1959 he was united in marriage to Jean Mildred Treat at the United Methodist Church in Romeo, Michigan, a marriage that lasted 57 years. They made their home in Carroll. Allen was part of the Carroll Medical Center for 10 years before opening his own medical practice. Throughout his years as a doctor, he delivered thousands of babies.
Doc was a long-time member of the United Methodist Church, Gideons, Ducks Unlimited, the NRA and was a friend of Bill W. for 50 years. He taught Sunday School for more than 30 years and was the longest confirmed consecutive member of the Carroll United Methodist Church. Allen and his team fried fish for the nursing home for 19 years. During his spare time, Doc enjoyed hunting and fishing, religion, politics and sports, both as a player and spectator. His fondest memories include playing on the Carroll Tiger basketball team at the Iowa State Tournament 2 years in a row; fishing for bluegills, crappies, northerns & muskies with Skip and Steve Petersen at Lake Okoboji and duck hunting around Carroll and occasionally Canada.  He truly was a duck and bluegillologist.  He also passed on his fishing experience to his grandson, Kenneth Erwood.
He is survived by sister Mary Louise Petersen; two daughters (from a previous marriage) Lisa Anneberg and Karen Anneberg; granddaughter Evelyn Ashenbrener and grandson Kenneth Erwood; sister-in-law Barb Proctor; and many nieces and nephews.
Allen was preceded in death by parents Dr. Walter Allen and Margaret Dolliver Anneberg; his wife Jean Mildred Anneberg; and his son Walter Joseph (Skip) Anneberg.
