Dorthea Daley

Dorthea M. Daley, age 88, of Carroll, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, October 21, 2011 at Regency Park Care Center in Jefferson. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Pastor Ben Dose officiating. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 5:00 P.M. on Monday where there will be a prayer service held at 7:00 P.M.. Dorthea will be entombed next to her husband Joseph at Englewood Cemetery in Los Angeles, California. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com Born on December 27, 1922 at Scranton, Iowa, she was the daughter of Andrew and Ethel (Bilsborough) Carl. She grew up in Scranton, Bayard, and Wall Lake where she graduated from high school 1939. Following high school she moved to Los Angeles and worked as a telegraph operator and then for a Cadillac dealer. She was married to John C. Taylor and he passed away and she later married Joseph Daley. The couple lived in Ventura where she operated a yarn shop. Dorthea moved back to the Carroll area in 2001 to be by her sister Gladys Noelck. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia. Dorthea enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and her poodle Pixie. Surviving are her sister Gladys Noelck of Arcadia. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, and a daughter in infancy.
