Dorothy Marie Main, age 83, of Carroll, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, December 07, 2010 at her home in Carroll.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, December 10, 2010 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Pastor Brian Licht of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll officiating. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. on Thursday. Burial will be in the Greenfield Cemetery at 2:30 P.M. on Friday. Casket bearers will be grandsons: Mike Parkis, John Parkis, Brian Parkis, Chris Parkis, Scott Anderson, and Jeff Huegerich. Born on January 22, 1927 at Greenfield, Iowa, she was the daughter of Harry “Pat” and Alma June (Fleming) Thompson. She grew up in Greenfield, Iowa. Dorothy was married to Richard Duane Main on November 29, 1946 at Troy, Kansas. The couple moved to Carroll in 1960. In her spare time, Dorothy enjoyed going to the casino, watching her soap operas, and working crossword puzzles.
Surviving are her husband Richard of Carroll; a son Charles Parkis and his wife Betty of Carroll; two daughters: Patricia Anderson of Des Moines, and Janet Huegerich – Von Holdt and her husband Jeff of Lake Lotawana, Missouri; nine grandchildren: Mike Parkis, Scott Anderson, John Parkis, Mary Tuel, Debbie Tate, Jeff Huegerich, Brian Parkis, and Chris Parkis; thirteen great grandchildren: Brady, Kira, Shea, Riley, Haley, Cole, Chloe, Tyler, Taylor, Kirstin, Jessica, Betsy, and Brianne; two brothers Eugene Thompson of Fontanelle, Iowa; Don Thompson and his wife Joan of Greenfield, Iowa; a sister Diana Thompson of Greenfield, Iowa; and a brother-in-law Lesley Main and his wife Roxanne of Texas.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson Kelly, a great granddaughter in infancy, a brother Bob Dory and his wife Francis.
