Dorothy Deeth, age 90, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2014, at Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, on Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at Johnson & Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids, with Reverend Alan Miller, officiating. Musical selections include: How Great Thou Art, What A Friend We Have In Jesus, I’m But A Stranger Here and Hallelujah. Casket Bearers are: Robbie Heisterkamp, Brian Heisterkamp, Bryce Deeth, Caylor Deeth, Kain Storesund and Jeff Salisbury. Honorary casketbearers are: Jeff Deeth, Brian Salisbury, Tammy Salisbury, Theresa Deeth, Ashley Deeth, Tonya Storesund and Quinten Storesund. Interment will be in the Willow Township Cemetery near Bayard, Iowa. Dorothy Bell, daughter of John and Marie (Hansen) Carstens, was born June 23, 1923, on a farm near Glidden, Iowa. As a youth, she was baptized and confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church in Glidden. On October 8, 1941, Dorothy was united in marriage with Duane Deeth at Trinity Lutheran Church near Coon Rapids. Four children were born to this union: Larry, Nancy, Barb and Mike. Dorothy raised and cared for her children on a farm near Coon Rapids while Duane was in the service. Throughout her life, Dorothy enjoyed gardening, canning, and being a cook at Robert Deal Elementary for 18 years. Dorothy was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Ladies Guild. She also volunteered her time tying quilts for the needy. Her family has always been the most important thing in her life. Dorothy is survived by: a son Michael Deeth and his wife Patricia of Coon Rapids; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one step great-grandchild; two sisters Rosa Hunter of Panora and Lois Montesano and husband Joe of Fort Myers, Florida; and two sisters-in-law: Geniece (Carstens) Cook of Farnhamville and Faye Carstens of Bayard. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Duane on February 1, 1993; a son Larry Deeth; two daughters Nancy Heisterkamp and Barb Deeth (in infancy); three sisters: Anna Bielenberg and husband Rudolph, Margaret Lucht and husband Elmer and Luise Lucht and husband Roy; five brothers: Johnny Carstens;, David Carstens and wife Charlotte, Herman Carstens, Ernie Carstens and wife Marcella and Don Carstens; and a brother-in-law Fred Hunter.
