Dorothy J. Davis

Dorothy Jeanne Davis, of rural Coon Rapids, died on Sunday, June 3, 2018 after an extended stay at Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids, where she received care for the last calendar year. As per Dorothy’s and her family’s request, no funeral will be held.  A private burial will be at Orange Township Cemetery located south of Coon Rapids. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Panora Pets Dog Rescue, PO Box 144, Panora, IA 50216 and/or Animal Rescue of Carroll, 1721 East 10th Street, Carroll, IA 51401.  Dorothy Jean Davis was born October 21, 1926 in eastern Iowa, to Seth Wright Carlson and Anita Wright Carlson.  She attended school in Coon Rapids as well as Marshalltown, where she graduated in 1944.    On February 17, 1946, Dorothy was united in marriage to Duane L. Davis.  They made their home in rural Coon Rapids where Duane farmed.  They raised two children, daughter Terry and son Larry.  Duane and Dorothy enjoyed more than 60 years of marriage before Duane passed away in 2006. Before moving to the nursing home in 2017, Dorothy enjoyed staying at home on the farm.  She also enjoyed spoiling one of many puppy dogs she adopted over the years.   Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Terry, her brother Wright, and husband Duane.
