Dorothy Mae Boss, age 84, of Carroll and formerly of Coon Rapids passed away at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll on Tuesday, September 1, 2015. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, September 4, 2015 at the Coon Rapids United Methodist Church with Rev. Joyce Webb officiating. Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids from 5 – 7 P.M. on Thursday evening. The casket be will be moved to the church at 9:00 A.M. on Friday where visitation will resume until the time of service. Music for the service will be by Mike and Sue Moore and Mercedes Potter. Casket bearers will be grandsons: Mike Boes, Bret Hildebrand, Kamden Kramer, Shane Hildebrand, Joe Sturm, and Brandon Jackson. Burial will be in the Union Township Cemetery near Coon Rapids. Arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com Born on April 11, 1931 in Carrollton, she was the daughter of Harry and Opal (Hale) Hupp. Dorothy grew up in the Stuart – Menlo area and she was married to Gene Boss on September 26, 1948 at the Menlo Methodist Church. The couple lived on a farm south of Menlo. Dorothy worked as a nurse’s aide for Holstein Nursing Home in Carroll for many years. She also worked as a waitress at Arlene’s Café in Coon Rapids, did housekeeping, and babysat for several local families. Dorothy moved to Carroll in September of 2008 to be with her family. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Coon Rapids, the Rebekah Lodge, and the H & H Garden Club. Dorothy enjoyed gardening, playing cards, crocheting, fishing, embroidery, canning, bowling, and spending time with her family. Dorothy is survived by three daughters: Rose Jackson of Coon Rapids, Marilyn Hildebrand and her husband James of Carroll, and Teresa Schulte and her husband Todd Ralston of West Des Moines; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; a sister Mary Lou Halterman and her husband Delos of Elgin, SC; two brothers: Delbert Hupp of Elgin, SC, and Richard Hupp and his wife Judy of Schleswig; a brother-in-law Glenn Boss of Stuart; and several nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gene in 1999, a sister June Baugher, and two sons-in-law: Wilbur Jackson and Timothy Potter.
