Donna Mae (Riesenberg) Peterson, age 85, of Carroll, passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at her grandson's acreage, affectionately known as the “Nob” near Halbur surrounded by her family. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, September 29, 2017 at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Roselle with Fr. Shinoj Jose as Celebrant. Lector for the Mass will be Larry Riesenberg. The Catholic Daughters will form an honor guard at the Mass. Gift bearers will be Kyler Bryant, Jack Bryant and Kayla Riesenberg. Eucharistic Minister will be Tom Simons. Music for the Mass will be by the Holy Angels Choir with Kate Cuddy as organist. Casket bearers will be Donna’s grandsons Travis Riesenberg, Jason Riesenberg, Ryan Riesenberg, Stephen Riesenberg, Joseph Riesenberg, Andrew Riesenberg, Levi Riesberg, and Justin Riesberg. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 3:30 P.M. on Thursday where there will be a Rosary at 4:00 P.M. by the Catholic Daughters and a Christian Wake Service at 6:30 P.M. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Kindred Hospice and may be left at the funeral home or the church. Born on March 16, 1932 in Carroll, she was the daughter of Fred and Emma (Geier) Meister. She grew up in Breda where she graduated from St. Bernard’s Catholic High School in 1950. She was married to Alvin Riesenberg on August 19, 1952 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. The couple made their home south of Roselle where they farmed and raised their nine children. They moved into Templeton in 1986 due to Alvin’s health. Alvin passed away on September 6, 1986. Donna later married Alan “Buck” Peterson in 1997 and they continued to live in Templeton. Buck passed away in 1998 and Donna moved to Carroll in 2000. Donna was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church in Roselle while raising her family and later joined St. Lawrence Parish in Carroll. Over the years Donna worked several jobs in the Carroll area. She enjoyed polka dancing, crafting, collecting nick-nacks, going to the casino, baking, canning, traveling, but most of all spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. Donna is survived by her eight children and families: Larry (Carolyn) Riesenberg of Omaha, Deb (Ed) Henningsen of Omaha, Randy (Julie) Riesenberg of Carroll, Diane (Alan) Brincks of Mt. Carmel, Gary (Tammy) Riesenberg of Coon Rapids, Robert (Linda) Riesenberg of Carroll, Kathy (Darin) Reid of Flossmoor, IL, and Amy Riesberg (friend Jeff Hernandez) of Carroll; seventeen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; two sisters: Dorothy Harlow of Florida and Rosie Schuler of Carroll; and other extended family and many good friends. Donna was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Emma Meister; her husband Alvin Riesenberg in1986; her husband Alan “Buck” Peterson in 1998; a son David Riesenberg (2016) and his wife Carol (2015); her sister Mardelle Roth; and her brother Darwin Meister.
