Donna Maria Bruggeman

Donna Maria (Meiners) Bruggeman, age 83, of Glidden, IA, passed away on Friday, September 17, 2021 at Accura Healthcare of Carroll.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden.  Casket bearers will be Donna’s grandchildren: Jay Lauridsen, Jeffrey Lauridsen, Jeremy Lauridsen, Elissa Juhnke, Emily Bowman, and Jake Bruggeman. Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery near Glidden.

Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden from 5 – 7 P.M. on Tuesday evening.  Additional visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 – 10:15 A.M. on Wednesday prior to the service.

Donna was born on January 3, 1938 on her grandparents farm one mile north of Willey, and she was the daughter of Joseph and Rose (Brincks) Meiners.  She lived in the Westside – Arcadia - Manning area until she graduated from the 8 ^th grade when her family moved to Lidderdale.  She attended St. Angela’s Academy and worked at Jung’s Bakery and St. Anthony Hospital.  She was married to Merle Otto Bruggeman on April 11, 1958 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Ft. Dodge.  Donna and Merle lived in Ft. Dodge until moving back to Carroll County in 1972 and she worked for Farmland Foods.  They moved to Glidden in 1993 where Donna was a home maker.  She enjoyed sewing, quilting, baking, gardening, her Scottie Dog- Cleo, and spending time with her family.

Left to cherish Donna’s memory are her son Larry Bruggeman and his special friend Marcia Schlichte of Glidden; eight grandchildren: Elissa Juhnke (Benjamin) of Little Canada, MN, Emily Bowman (Zachary) of Ankeny, and Jacob Bruggeman (Maddison Bock) of Glidden, Jeremy Lauridsen of Des Moines, Jeff Lauridsen (Bekha) of Ankeny, and Jay Lauridsen (Samantha Rincon) of Ankeny, Michael Bruggeman (Erin) of Urbandale, and Becky Troja (Jake) of Urbandale; nine great-grandchildren; a son-in-law John Lauridsen (Janelle) of Ames; a sister Mary Rungee (Ed) of Huber Heights, OH; two sisters-in-law: Jean Shank of Kiwanee, IL, and Ruth Campbell of Ft. Dodge; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Merle in 2012, her daughter Joyce Lauridsen in 2015, and her son Ronald in 2017.
