Donald Bernard Venteicher, age 76, of Glidden passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden with Fr. Andrew Hoffman officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Wednesday. Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery near Glidden. Pall bearers will be his grandchildren. Born on June 29, 1938 on his family’s farm near Carroll, he was the son of Joseph J. and Elizabeth (Brincks)Venteicher. He attended school in Willey and Carroll while growing up. Following school he enlisted in the United States Army and served four years during the Korean War. He was married to Phyllis Williams on April 22, 1962 at Funston Chapel in Manhattan, Kansas. Following Don’s military service the couple lived in Carroll where he worked for Schroeder Construction for 22 years and for Carroll County Secondary Roads for 20 years. Don was a member of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Glidden. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, working on cars, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Don is survived by his wife Phyllis of 53 years of Glidden; two daughters: Delilah Venteicher and her special friend Randy Barker of Carroll and Ann Marie Corson and her husband Richard of Coon Rapids; four sons: Donald Venteicher Jr. and his wife Brandy of Breda, Ricky Venteicher of Carroll, Timothy Venteicher of Glidden, and Kevin Venteicher and his wife Deborah of Carroll; twelve grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; two brothers: Gerald Venteicher and his wife Eunice of Scranton and Elmer Venteicher and his wife Linda of Carroll; a sister-in-law Patricia Mertz of Kansas City, Missouri; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers: Raymond, Merlin, and Ralph.
