Donald Dingman

June 19, 1941 — July 5, 2009

Donald R. Dingman, age 68, of Glidden and formerly of Greenfield, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2009 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll. Born on June 19, 1941 at Carroll, Iowa, he was the son of Robert A. and Vera M. (Bennett) Dingman. He graduated from Scranton High School in 1959, and attended Iowa State University where he earned a degree in agriculture. Following college he served in the U.S. Army for two years. Don was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed bowling, reading, and playing games. Surviving are daughters Lynnette Silkman and her husband Robert of Greenfield, Iowa, Dannette Lindell and her husband Matthew of Gilbert, Iowa, Sandra Stephens and her husband Mark of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Rebecca Alvarado and her husband Eric of Austin, Texas. Surviving sisters are Wanda Stephenson, Marilyn Dingman, Elaine Dingman, and Debra Wright and her husband Lance of Glidden; Sharon Hall and her husband Roger of Davenport, Iowa. Surviving brothers are Lyle Dingman and his wife Joan of Towanda, Kansas and Larry Dingman of Davenport, Iowa. He is survived by seven grandchildren: Kaitlynn, Amanda, Glenn, Stephanie, Rebecca, Andrew, and Olivia; Aunt Ernestine Bennett of Richmond, Virginia plus several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Cecil Wayne and Richard Dingman. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at the United Methodist Church in Glidden with Rev. Jessica Rockhold officiating. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden after 5:00 P.M. on Tuesday where there will be a prayer service held at 7:00 P.M. The casket will be moved to the church at 8:30 A.M. on Wednesday to lie in state until the time of service. Music for the service will be by Mary Ross and Don’s granddaughter Kaitlynn Silkman. Casket bearers will be Eric Hall, Steven Hall, Timothy Martin, Scott Dingman, Alex Wright, and Rod Connor. Burial will be in the Scranton Cemetery near Scranton.
