Dick Trumbla, age 69, of Bouton, passed away at the home of his sister and brother-in-law Cecilia and Eugene Haubrich in rural Manning on Tuesday, September 2, 1014. Dick fought an 18-month fight of lung cancer.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, October 31, 2014 at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter. Arrangements are under the direction of the Johnson and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Manning and online condolences may be left for the family at www.johnsonandwoodhouse.com
Dick Caleb Trumbla, son of Clifford and Barbara Squibb Trumbla, was born at this grandparents’ house in Coon Rapids, Iowa on November 15, 1944. Dick was the oldest of six children. When Dick was a young boy, he moved with his family to the San Francisco bay area. In his young teens, he was a golden glove boxer. At the age of 17, Dick enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served on a destroyer. He was honorably discharged in 1966 and lived in Renton, Washington, returning to California in 1970. Dick returned to his home state of Iowa in 1972. He lived in various cities until settling into his current home in Bouton. He worked at various jobs and retired from the United States Postal Service in Urbandale after 25 years of service. Dick was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing, camping, and most of all riding his four-wheeler.
Dick is survived by his daughter Stefanie Trumbla of Kent, Washington; four siblings: Helen (Ken) Stanke of Newman, California, Mark (Carolyn) Trumbla of Coon Rapids, Iowa, Cecilia (Eugene) Haubrich of Manning, Iowa, and John (Manda) Trumbla of San Jose, California; nieces: Denise Borge, Maggie Buteau, Julie Garrigan, Shayleen Ellington, Erica Guerrero, Keri Goodlow, Kayla Haubrich, Leah Haubrich, Abby Haubrich and Rowen Trumbla; a nephew Daniel Guerrero; several great nieces and nephews and cousins.
Dick cherished his friendship with the Denny and Wanda Brelsford family, Camilla McCain, Robin and Karen Miller, and the 1:00 PM guys at Mudders. They were all near and dear to him.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Mary Turner and a nephew Robert Turner Jr.
