Diane Joan Johnston, age 55, of rural Scranton passed away at her home on Sunday, August 2, 2015. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at Peace Lutheran Church in Glidden with Pastor Alan Miller officiating. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden after 5:00 P.M. on Wednesday where there will be a prayer service held at 6:30 P.M. The casket will be moved to the church at 9:00 A.M. on Thursday where visitation will resume until the time of service. Organist for the service will be Becky Miller and soloist will be Carl Wilburn. Casket bearers will be Diane’s nephews: James Johnston, Brad Johnston, Kris Johnston, Matt Johnston, Joe Langel, and Johnny Brus. Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery near Glidden. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com Born on April 28, 1960 in Carroll, she was the daughter of Elmer and Alta (Stuhr) Brus. She grew up in Glidden and graduated from Glidden-Ralston High School in 1978. She was married to Alan Johnston on May 23, 1980 at the Scranton Methodist Church. The couple lived in various locations while Alan served in the military and then moved to their current home seven miles south of Scranton. Diane was a home maker and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed fishing, sewing, gardening, crafts, and baking; but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in rural Coon Rapids. Diane is survived by her husband Alan of rural Scranton; two sons: Sean Johnston and his wife Aida of Waverly and Ryan Johnston and his wife Jodi of Farmington, MN; two grandchildren: Jace and Liam; two brothers: Richard Brus of Scranton and Larry Brus and his wife Shelly of Churdan; two sisters: Karen Edmonds and her husband Ruben of Lawrence, KS, and Laurie Langel and her husband David of Milford; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Diane was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Duane Brus.
