LuLu “Dee” DeVota Russell, age 77, of Altoona, Iowa, and formerly of Carroll, Iowa, passed away at her home on Wednesday, June 04, 2008.
Born on January 22, 1931 at Carroll, Iowa, she was the daughter of Virgil H. and E. Maude (Butler) Christianson. She was married to Floyd R. Russell on July 31, 1950.
Surviving are two daughters: Kittie Farnsworth and her special friend Emmett “Chip” Chapin of Altoona, and Roberta “Berdy” Russell of Carroll; a son Leo Russell and his wife LaVonne of Lake Mills, Iowa; a brother Virgil “Termite” Christianson and his wife Cathy of Carroll; 8 grandchildren: JoAnn, LeRoy, Rolana, Roland, Brenda, Thomas, Melony, and Mallory; and 8 great grandchildren: Ashlynn, Rachelle, Madison, Rachael, Justin, Blake, Jadyn, and Kaitlyn. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son Floyd Allen, a brother Harold, and two sisters: Belma Christianson, and Norma Lindgren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Rev. Michael Fitzsimmons of First Presbyterian Church in Carroll officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 – 7 P.M. on Monday at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll. Organist for the service will be Mrs. Ellen Severin and the soloist will be Mr. Skip Raridon. Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery.
