Dennis Lynn Streeter

November 3, 1937 — September 6, 2024

On November 3, 1937 Dennis "Duck" Lynn Streeter was born to Esther (Wetter) and Monroe Streeter. He was the fifth child and brother to Mildred, Russell, Wilma, and Geniece.

At the age of nine, Dennis purchased his first pair of fancy pigeons and began a lifelong passion of raising and showing birds.

Dennis was among the last class to graduate from Lanesboro High School. He enjoyed telling people that he was ranked fourth overall in his class (of four students.)

In 1957 he began his farming career where he lived and farmed a quarter mile south of Lanesboro. He was regarded as a meticulous steward of the land. Dennis took great pride in planting ruler straight rows, clean fields, and high yields.

On June 11, 1961 he married Bonnie Miller in Lake City. Together they raised five children. Dennis was a wonderful and involved dad who indulged his kids with a variety of pets, goats, poultry, many small animals, and ponies and horses.

Dennis was an exceptional hog farmer from farrow to finish. Later he raised sheep and was very

particular with his livestock regarding their care and health.

Also as a Master Gardener from Iowa State University, Dennis enjoyed planting and maintaining his multiple vegetable and flower beds. He loved pulling weeds!

Dennis was an avid reader and also attended flea markets, auctions, and garage sales as a hobby. He was a member of the Iowa State Pigeon Club and a number of other pigeon associations.

He passed on September 6 and leaves behind wife Bonnie, 5 children: Mark (Marti) Streeter of Boone, Jill (Dave) Powers of Boone, Joy Stork of Glidden, Danny (Marie) Streeter of Lanesboro, and Sheryl (Justin) Walker of Oak Creek, Colorado. Dennis had fourteen grandchildren and multiple great grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Also his cat Tyrone.

In accordance with Dennis’ wishes, no services will be held.  The Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden assisted the family with arrangements and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com
