Dennis Eugene Johnston

Dennis E. Johnston, age 66, of Carroll, IA, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at his home in Carroll surrounded by family.

Dennis was born on October 28, 1958 and was the son of Keith and Ellen “Helen” (Clements) Johnston. He grew up in the Glidden area and drove long haul trucks with his father following high school. He traveled the country driving trucks for years and drove for local trucking companies until a hunting accident sidelined him in 2009. Dennis married Marianna Walter on January 3, 1981 and three boys were born to this union. Following her death in 1996, he married Linda Paul (Schelle) on August 21, 2000 and gained another son and two daughters.  Dennis loved to hunt, fish, play cards, camp, visit Las Vegas and spend time with family.

Dennis is survived by his wife Linda Johnston of Carroll, IA; children: James Johnston of Stafford, VA, Kristopher Johnston (Callie) of Ankeny, IA, Mattew Johnston (Mercedes) of Elk Horn, IA; Tonya Erickson (Jamie) of Cambridge, MN, Billy Paul (Jill) of Cawker City, KS, and Tina Watts (Dan) of Hopkins, MN; twenty-one grandchildren including spouses; six great-grandchildren; brothers: Michael Johnston of Carroll, IA and Alan Johnston of Jefferson, IA; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Per Dennis wishes, a private Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
