Dennis Dean Frank, age 68, of Carroll passed away on Friday, January 12, 2018 at the VA Hospital in Des Moines surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll with Pastor Brian Licht officiating. Casket bearers will be Kaleb Johnson, Isaac Engeman, David Frank, Evan Newcomb, Tom Frank, and Keith Dentlinger. Burial will be in the Luckow Cemetery near Ulmer with military honors conducted by the Iowa National Guard. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 5:00 P.M. on Tuesday where there will be a prayer service at 6:30 P.M. The casket will be moved to the church at 9:30 A.M. on Wednesday where visitation will resume until the time of service. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com Born on November 1, 1949 in Lake City, IA, he was the son of Herman and Johanna (Mohr) Frank. He grew up on his family’s farm near Carnarvon. Dennis enlisted in the United States Army in 1967 and served two years. Following his honorable discharge he moved back to Carnarvon to work on his family’s farm. He was married to Beth Freeman in 1970 and to this union was born three children Benjamin John, Colin Dean, and Heidi Ann. They lived in Armstrong where they raised their children. The couple later divorced and Dennis moved to Carroll where he worked for Commercial Equipment and Trausch Refrigeration before purchasing his own semi. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll. He enjoyed watching westerns, rebuilding antique tractors, fishing, hunting, and spending time with family. Dennis is survived by his children Colin Frank of LeMars and Heidi Engeman (Shawn) of Armstrong; Connie Dentlinger of Carroll; many grandchildren; one great grandson; a brother Elgene Frank (Linda) of Lacona, IA; a sister Marcile Pendleton (Brian) of Akron, OH; and many nieces and nephews. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents Herman and Johanna Frank; two brothers Eldon and Arland; his son Benjamin John; and grandson Benjamin Dean.
