Deloris Subbert

Deloris Adrienne Subbert, age 84, of Scranton passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Hawkeye Care Center in Carroll. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at the Scranton Township Cemetery with Rev. Chaun Bergmeier of Pleasant Ridge Community Church officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday from 5 – 7 P.M. at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Scranton. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Scranton and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com Born on April 25, 1932 on her family’s farm north of Scranton, she was the daughter of Ray and Claire (Barton) Eason. She grew up in Scranton and graduated from Scranton Consolidated Schools in the class of 1950. Deloris was married to Donald Dean Subbert on October 1, 1950 at the Scranton United Methodist Church. The couple made their home in Scranton where they raised their four children. Deloris worked at General Electric in Carroll for twelve years and retired in 1985. She then worked for a day care center in Boone and as a nanny in the Des Moines area for four years. Deloris also did home health care in Greene County for several years, enjoyed working at the Scranton Library, and did political fund raising for Groundswell Direct Inc. She attended Boone Junior College and the Ft. Dodge Community College and majored in Sociology, English, and Psychology. Deloris and Don attended Pleasant Ridge Community Church near Glidden for many years. She was creative and was known for knitting afghans and making clothes for her family. She also enjoyed crafting and scrapbooking, geneaology, and spending time with her family. Deloris is survived by a daughter Kathy Jarrell (Wilson) of Hampton, SC; three sons: Michael Subbert (Vikki) of Scranton, Teryl Subbert of Cedar Rapids, and Kim Subbert (Tina) of Audubon; eight grandchildren: Nathan Subbert of Cedar Rapids, Korin Subbert of Cedar Rapids, Fayth Malloy (Dan) of Cedar Rapids, Khristina Case of Islandton, SC, Evan Subbert of Coon Rapids, Emily Subbert of Shelby, Collin Subbert of Audubon, and Leah Subbert of Audubon; seven great grandchildren: Destiny, Alden, Everett, Raelyn, Brayden, Fallyn, and Niall; a brother-in-law Eugene Subbert (Ethel) of Scranton; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Deloris was preceded in death by her parents Ray and Claire Eason; her husband in 1991; three brothers: Lowell, Simon, and Keith “Jack”; and a sister Cleo Duff.
