Delores Mae Koester, age 81, of Carroll, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at Regency Park in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, April 28, 2014 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 5:00 P.M. on Sunday where there will be a Christian Wake Service held at 6:30 P.M. by Holy Spirit Parish. Music for the Mass will be by Barb McDermott and the Holy Spirit Choir. Lectors for the mass will be Sarah Steffes and Emily Bowden. Eucharistic minister will be Vern Greving. Gift bearers will be Jim and Ted Koester. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Willey. Casket bearers will be Bill Koester, John Koester, Paul Koester, Jerry Koester, Ted Koester, and Jim Koester. An honor guard will be formed at the church by the Legion of Mary.
Born on March 23, 1933 in Willey, Iowa, she was the daughter of George and Veronica (Nagl) Koester. She grew up in Willey and attended St. Mary’s School. Delores and her sister Teresa moved to Carroll in 1968. Over the years she worked at the Casino Café, Don’s Bakery, Mallard View, and did house cleaning. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll, the ladies guild of the church, and the Legion of Mary. Delores has made her home at Regency Park for the past two years. She enjoyed playing cards and socializing.
Delores is survived by twelve nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Teresa, and two brothers: Louis and Leonard.
