Delores Darlene Bentley, age 91, of Glidden passed away on Monday, January 14, 2019 at Accura Healthcare in Carroll.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at the Glidden United Methodist Church with Rev. Lorinda Hoover officiating. Organist for the service will be Mary Ross. Casket bearers will be Nick Wothe, Scott Schaefer, David Bentley, Paul Bentley, Dick Platt, and Gregg Platt. Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery near Glidden.
Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden from
5-7 P.M. on Wednesday evening. The casket will be moved to the church at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday where visitation will resume until the time of service. Born on May 21, 1927 in Carroll, IA, she was the daughter of Harry and Alvina (Heuton) Platt. Delores grew up in the Lidderdale area and attended country school as a girl. She was married to Quintin Bentley on December 31, 1944 at the home of her parents by Rev. Rudolf Hermann. The couple farmed northeast of Glidden where they raised their two daughters Crystal and Sue. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Glidden. Quintin and Delores had a cabin in Longville, MN for 29 years where she worked part-time at the King Gallery Gift Store. Delores enjoyed quilting, sewing, and knitting. She was a volunteer quilter with RSVP and she loved going to coffee with her friends.
Delores is survived by her two daughters: Susan Schaefer (Rick) of Carroll and Crystal Bentley of Glidden; four grandchildren: Scott Schaefer of Carnarvon, Nick Wothe of Glidden, Jenna Ahrens (Shawn) of Eagle Grove and Martin Schaefer (Paula) of Texas; five great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law Doris Bentley of Glidden; and four nephews and their spouses.
Delores was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Alvina Platt; her mother and father-in-law Willard and Eunice Bentley; a brother Lowell Platt and his wife Donna; a brother-in-law Wayne Bentley; a brother Kenneth in infancy, and her husband Quintin in 1997.
