Dean Edward Fredrickson, age 82, of Carroll, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at Black Hawk Life Care Center in Lake View, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at St. John Lutheran Church in Carroll with Rev. David Bergstrom officiating. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 5:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 6 where there will be a prayer service held at 7:00 P.M.. Organist for the service will be Mrs. Jan Potthoff and soloist will be Mr. Skip Raridon. Burial of cremated remains for Mr. Fredrickson and his wife Anne Fredrickson will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at the Oakland Municipal Cemetery in Forest City, Iowa.
Born on December 23, 1927 at Forest City, Iowa, he was the son of Eddie and Alice (Anderson) Fredrickson. He grew up in Forest City and graduated from High School in 1946. He then enlisted in the United States Navy and served two years. He attended Waldorf College in Forest City and graduated in 1950. He was married to Anne Larson on June 20, 1952 at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, Iowa. Dean worked for Standard Oil in the accounting office living in Mason City, Des Moines, Kansas City, and Carroll. He retired after 26 years of service and went to work for McDonald Associates of Omaha. He retired in October of 2003 due to poor health. Dean was a loving father and grandfather and was very proud of his family. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. He was a sports fan, loved to golf, and loved spending time with his three grandchildren.
Surviving are a daughter Lisa Brinker of Lake View; three grandchildren: Stacy Brinker of Westminster, Colorado, Melanie Brinker of Denver, Colorado, and Gregory Brinker of Carroll; a daughter-in-law Debbie Fredrickson of Alburgh, Vermont; a sister Arlys Swingen of Forest City, Iowa; a sister-in-law Mary Franzen of Titonka, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Anne in 2001, a son Timothy on February 17, 2010, a brother Marvin Fredrickson, a brother-in-law Russell Swingen, his mother and father-in-law Dr. Leonard and Margaret Larson, and a nephew Dennis Swingen.
