Dawn Marie Genter-Ashby of Glidden, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, April 06, 2010 at her home in Glidden.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Glidden with Rev. Jessica Rockhold Gaul officiating. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden from 5 – 7 P.M. on Wednesday. The casket will be moved to the church at 8:30 A.M. on Thursday to lie in state until the time of service. Casket bearers will be Mike Genter, Ethan Genter, Evan Genter, Garrett Genter, A.J. Busch, and Alec Steffes. Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery near Glidden.
Born on July 31, 1974 in Carroll, Iowa, she was the daughter of Jim Genter and Joy (Stuhr) Savoie. She grew up in Glidden and Omaha and graduated from North High School in Omaha in 1993. Dawn’s son, Robert Daniel Genter, was born in 1994. She was married to Michael Ashby in 1999, and daughter Michael Noel Ashby was born in 2003. Her greatest joys were her children, her family and singing. Dawn is survived by a son, Robert Genter of Houston, Texas and formerly of Glidden; and a daughter, Michael Ashby of Glidden; her parents Jim and Janet Genter of Glidden and Joy Savoie of Glidden; her paternal grandmother, Letha Genter of Carroll; her special friend Michael Starman of Glidden; brother, Mike Genter and his wife Rose of Glidden; three sisters: Bobbi Nielsen and her husband Henrik of Shakopee, Minnesota; Tammi Marsh of Ankeny; and Valerie Tegeler and her husband Rick of Houston, Texas; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Mildred and Amos Stuhr and Robert Genter.
