David George Seidl, age 70, of Coon Rapids passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. A Christian Wake Service will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Sunday evening at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids with Deacon Louis Meiners officiating. Military honors will be conducted at the funeral home by the Coon Rapids American Legion. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids from 5:00 P.M. until the time of service on Sunday evening. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com Born on April 5, 1947 in Carroll, Iowa, he was the son of Rubert and Leona (Berger) Seidl. He grew up south of Dedham until his family moved north of Coon Rapids his freshman year of high school. He graduated from Coon Rapids High School in 1965. Dave was drafted into the United States Army following high school and served two years stationed in Germany. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Coon Rapids where he worked several jobs. He was married to Faye Stangl on July 30, 1977 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dedham. Dave and Faye farmed the Seidl Family Farm their entire married life two miles north of Coon Rapids. He enjoyed woodworking, raising sheep, everything about farming, and he loved animals. Dave is survived by his honorary children Elizabeth Schlichte of Iowa City, Ryan Schlichte of Nevada, Sarah Schlichte of Templeton and Steven Schlichte of Templeton; his brother-in-law LeRoy Schlichte of Templeton; brothers: Dan Seidl (Diane) of Coon Rapids, Dale Seidl (Sue) of Coon Rapids; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many good friends. Dave was preceded in death by his parents Rubert and Leona Seidl; his sister-in-law Julia Schlichte; and his wife Faye Seidl on December 11, 2015.
