David Perry

David Hilaire Perry, age 74, of Cedar Rapids,Iowa and formerly of Carroll died at the Manor Care Center in Cedar Rapids on Tuesday July 7, 2009. Dave had lived most of his life in Carroll until moving to Cedar Rapids to be near family. He was born on January 12, 1935 in Minnesota and was the son of Earl and Toni (St. Halaire) Perry. He was married to Eileen “Curly” Beran on July 18, 1962 at Watertown, South Dakota. The couple moved to Carroll in 1967. He then went to work for McCarville Motors as a mechanic. He then worked for Chico Kanne at Community Oil for 10 years before he retired in 1980. He also worked for Crouse Cartage Company as a diesel mechanic. Dave was a veteran of the Korean War having served with the Army. He served on the board of independent living with the Commission for the Blind in Des Moines, Iowa. Surviving are a son David R. Perry and his wife Joyce of Bondurant, Iowa; a daughter Sheilah Perry Rosales and her husband Oscar of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; five grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; one great great grandson; and a brother Richard Perry and his wife Laura of Faribault, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his wife and a brother Mike. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Saturday, July 11, 2009 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Rev. Ken Ferguson of the First United Methodist officiating. Interment will be in the Carroll city Cemetery with military honors by the Maurice Dunn Post of the American Legion. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 5PM on Friday where there will be a prayer service at 7PM. Casket Bearers will be Michael Perry, Dion Perry, David Rosales, Michelle Anthofer, Lucas Perry, and Brian Anthofer.
