David Edward Hoehl, age 66, of Carroll passed away on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at Arbor Springs in West Des Moines, IA. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll Deacon David Prenger officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service. Military honors will be given by the Carroll American Legion. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to the Carroll County Conservation Board or the Mayo Clinic Foundation. Born on March 23, 1952 in Carroll, David was the son of Edward August and Elizabeth Adelaide (Schechinger) Hoehl. He grew up in Carroll and graduated from Kuemper High School in 1970. Following high school, David enlisted in the United States Army and served two years of active and two years reserve duty. Following his military service, Dave worked for Scheck’s Plumbing and Heating. While working, Dave attended DMACC and Upper Iowa University and graduated Cum Laude, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in August 2001. He retired from plumbing and heating work in 2013. David enjoyed fishing, spending time outdoors, golfing, going for walks in the woods, and all things nature. He was active in the Carroll community and served on the Carroll County Conservation Board from 2004 through 2013. David donated his time and talent to building the Conservation Center at Swan Lake. He was also a member of Ducks Unlimited and a local RC airplane club. David is survived by his three sisters: Margaret “Peggy” Hoehl of Tucson, AZ, Susan Hoehl of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Paula Hoehl Jensen (Jeffrey) of Gilbert, AZ; a brother-in-law Michael Lundby of Marion, IA; three nieces and three nephews. David was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Elizabeth Hoehl and sister Mary Lundby.
