David Beverly Haselton III of Glidden passed away on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.
Private family services will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden with Rev. Dr. Michael Fitzsimmons officiating. Burial will in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Owatonna, Minnesota.
Born on January 30, 1923 at Carroll, Iowa, he was the son of Raymond P. and Hilda M. (Smith) Haselton. He grew up on the Haselton family farm west of Glidden. He graduated from Carroll High School in 1940. He then attended Iowa State University until he enlisted in the U.S. Navy Air Corps. He served four years as a torpedo bomber pilot and was honorably discharged in 1945. He was married to Mary E. Roberts on June 29, 1946 at First Baptist Church in Owatonna, Minnesota. Dave farmed in the Glidden area until 1957 when they moved to Owatonna where he worked for Reserve Supply Company until his retirement in 1985. The couple moved back to Glidden in 1994. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Glidden, the Merle Hay Post of the American Legion in Glidden, and he was a lifetime member of Haggai Masonic Lodge #369 of Glidden. Dave enjoyed fishing, traveling, and spending time with his family.
Surviving are his wife Mary of Glidden; a daughter Meredith Iverson and her husband Larry of Encinitas, California; a son Charles Haselton and his wife Kathy of Sandy, Utah; a son Clark Haselton of Owatonna, Minnesota; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; a sister Marian Junker of Glidden; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Donald in infancy, James, and Bruce, and a sister Irene in infancy.
