David Grant Carter, age 55, of Glidden passed away on Friday, October 5, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden with Deacon Tim Murphy officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday evening from 5 – 7 P.M. at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden and will resume at 9:30 A.M. on Tuesday at the funeral home until the time of service. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com Born on February 18, 1963 in Oskaloosa, IA, he was the son of Bob and Joan (Young) Carter. David grew up in Cedar, IA, and graduated from Eddyville High School in 1981. Following high school, he worked several construction jobs in various locations in the mid-west. He was married to Janetta Van Gorp in 1987. The couple divorced in 1995. David later married Renee Willey on September 5, 2009 in Soldier, IA. David and Renee made their home in Glidden where he worked construction and most recently for the City of Glidden as Public Works Foreman. Dave enjoyed riding his motorcycle, collecting Harley Memorabilia and tools, camping, and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. David is survived by his wife Renee of Glidden; his father Bob Carter of Oskaloosa, IA; a daughter Jennifer Carter of Glidden; a son Michael Carter of Des Moines; six grandchildren: Courtland, Oliver, Oden, October, Tanner, and Conner; a step-daughter Christy Heisterkamp (Eric) of Glidden; a step-son Tim Willey (Leah) of Glidden; a step-daughter Jessica Kilcoin (Kevin) of Des Moines; two sisters: Lori Beckham (Steve) of Canyon, TX and Michelle Spinks of Cedar Rapids, IA; a brother Bob Carter (Sheli) of Glidden; three brothers-in-law: Ronnie Nieland (Mary) of Willey, Roger Nieland (Peggy) of St. Paul, MN, and Rick Nieland (Carla) of Garrett, IN; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. David was preceded in death by his mother Joan Carter and his father-in-law Virgil Nieland.
