Daryl was born on February 6, 1948 in Carroll, IA, to Rufus and Doris (Schulte) Boes. He grew up in Breda where he developed his love of horses, fishing and hunting. Daryl was wed to Jayne (Burgart) Boes in 1967. They moved to Sioux City to begin their adventures together and start their family with first Daryl Jr. and then Michelle. Daryl and his family moved back to Carroll in 1973. Daryl owned Daryl’s Barbershop in Carroll for almost 20 years where he loved joking with and taking care of his customers. He and Jayne moved to Mesa, Arizona in 1989. He joined the team of ranchers at Don Donnely Stables in Gold Canyon, AZ and ran the operation for many years. He regaled the clients with stories of western history and was featured on the local news. This was his greatest passion and joy besides his family. Some of Daryl’s favorite times were spent with his 3 granddaughters. He loved to tease them, teach them to fish and tell them stories of growing up on the farm in Breda. Dad also cherished his time with his wife Jayne who was his greatest love. The love they shared was undeniable and eternal. They loved to explore Arizona in his jeep that he called “Papa’s jeep”.
Daryl had a tremendous sense of humor and loved to laugh and love. We grieve his loss in our lives but will hold on to our most precious memories of him. Images of Dad laughing, his orneriness and embracing and loving his family. He will be in our hearts forever and we will rejoice when we see him again.
Daryl is survived by his wife Jayne (Burgart), his son Daryl Jr. (Kim) and daughter Michelle (Jon) Burgher; grandchildren: Kayla, Tiffany, and Kiara; step-grandchildren: Emily, Josh, and Derrick.
Daryl is preceded in death by his parents Rufus and Doris (Schulte) Boes.
