Darrell Craig Johnson, age 51, of Scranton, Iowa, passed away on Friday, November 18, 2011 at the Boone County Hospital in Boone, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, November 21, 2011 at the Church of Christ in Scranton with Pastor Bob McKnight officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 A.M. on Monday until the time of service. Organist for the service will be Mrs. Laura McKnight. Casket bearers will be Andy Reynoldson, Alvin Meyer, Rod Walker, Jerry Johnson, David Boyd, and Sandra Cloninger. Born on July 15, 1960 at Kalamazoo, Michigan, he was the son of Henry Daniel and Maxine (Dollahite) Wiejaczka . He grew up in Kalamazoo after middle school then moved to Walnut Ridge, Arkansas where he graduated from high school. Following high school Darrell worked in several restaurants as a cook. He moved to Illinois in the late 70’s and then to Scranton in 2001 where he has worked for Scranton Manufacturing since 2003. Darrell has been on the Scranton Fire and Rescue Unit since 2004. In his spare time he enjoyed collecting comic books and spending time with his children. Surviving are his four children: Joseph Daniel Johnson of St. Augustine, Florida, Kelly Johnson of St. Augustine, Florida, Mathew Henry Johnson of Boone, Iowa, and Elisa Ruth Johnson of Boone, Iowa; three grandchildren: Reily, Destiny, and Abigail; his mother Maxine Wiejaczka and her husband Kenneth of Aurora, Illinois; his father Henry Daniel Johnson of Tennessee; two brothers: Terry Daniel Johnson and his wife Tammy of Aurora, Illinois, and Jerry Robert Johnson and his wife Patricia of Montgomery, Illinois; a sister Barbara Boyd and her husband David of Tennessee; Joseph and Kelley’s mother Eileen Johnson of St. Augustine, Florida; and Matt and Elise’ mother Cindy Reynoldson of Boone, Iowa; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
