Darrell Gene Baker

Darrell Gene Baker, age 61, of Lanesboro, IA, passed away on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Rev. Rick Hamilton officiating.  Burial will be in the Lanesboro Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll from 5 – 7 P.M. on Tuesday evening.  Additional visitation will be held from 9:30 – 10:15 A.M. on Wednesday morning at the funeral home prior to the service.

Darrell was born on June 11, 1959 in Lake City, IA, and he was the son of William and Rita (Cretsinger) Baker.  He grew up in the Lanesboro area and graduated from Lake City High School in 1977.  He began working for the Farmers Coop in Lidderdale in 1978 and then transferred to the Coop’s Lanesboro Location which he managed until 2000.  He was married to Lori Ashbrook on February 14, 1981 at the First United Methodist Church in Lanesboro.  Darrell became a certified Paramedic in June of 2000 and worked for the Carroll County EMS, for several years as Director, until he passed away.  He also served as a Death Investigator for Carroll County while working as a Paramedic.  Darrell was a family man and cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren especially attending their events.

Darrell is survived by his wife Lori of Lanesboro; two daughters: Mandy LeFleur (Chris) of Boone and Ashley Brincks (Andrew) of Carroll; four grandsons: Linkin, Alex, Ethan, and Keaton; his mother Rita Baker of Lanesboro; a brother Bob Baker (Kathy) of Lanesboro; a sister Marilyn Vierra (Frank) of Carroll; his special forever friend Sally Sue; and many other extended family members.

Darrell was preceded in death by his father William Baker and a brother Paul Baker.
