Darlene Peters

December 30, 1936 — April 1, 2014

         Darlene (Baugh) Peters, age 77, of Glidden passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at the Carroll Health Center Nursing Home in Carroll.     Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at the Glidden United Methodist Church with Rev. Lorinda Hoover officiating.  Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden after 5:00 P.M. on Friday where there will be a prayer service held at 7:00 P.M.  The casket will be moved to the church at 8:30 A.M. on Saturday where visitation will resume until the time of service.  Organist for the service will be Mary Ross.  Casket bearers will be Dave Baugh, Bob Baugh, Steve Baugh, Dennis Baugh, Jerry Kraetch, and Larry Nold.  Honorary casket bearers will be Darlene’s grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery near Glidden.       Born on December 30, 1936 in Jefferson, Iowa, she was the daughter of Grover and Leora (McCullough) Baugh.  Darlene’s family lived in Bagley, Iowa, until she was in the 7th grade when they moved to Minnesota.  She graduated from Grand Meadow High School in 1955.  Darlene moved to Glidden in 1984 and worked in local flower shops and as an assistant librarian at the Glidden Library.  She was a member of the Glidden United Methodist Church.  Darlene enjoyed flowers, gardening, reading, bird watching, poetry, spending time with her family and visiting with her friends.     Darlene is survived by five children:  a son Michael Halligan and his wife Dawn of Liberty Hill, Texas; a daughter Debra Halligan of Glidden; a son Scott Halligan and his wife Lori of Jefferson; a son Curt Peters of Des Moines; and a son Carlan Peters and his wife Julie of Glidden.  She is also survived by seventeen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren with one on the way; a sister Pearl Henke of Racine Minnesota; and a sister Mary Bell of Stewartville, Minnesota; a sister-in-law Mary Jane Baugh of Friend, Nebraska; and several nieces and nephews.  Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, and four sisters.
