Darlene Rosa (Buse) Ott, age 87, of Carroll, and formerly of Jefferson passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Accura Healthcare of Carroll. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll with Pastor Brian Licht officiating. Organist for the service will be Ellen Severin. Casket bearers will be grandchildren: Allison Deluhery, Alex Carlson, Ryan Hanson, and Eric Carlson and nephews: Doug Ott and Mark Ott. Burial will be in the Jefferson Cemetery. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 5:00 P.M. on Friday where there will be a prayer service held at 6:30 P.M. The casket will be moved to St. Paul Lutheran Church at 9:30 A.M. on Saturday where visitation will resume until the time of service. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com Born on December 19, 1930 on her family’s farm near Ulmer, Iowa, she was the daughter of John and Rosa (Voss) Buse. She was baptized on March 8, 1931 and confirmed in the Lutheran faith on May 28, 1944 at Peace Lutheran Church near Ulmer. She attended rural school through the eighth grade and graduated from Wall Lake High School in 1948. Darlene was united in marriage to Gerald Ott on June 5, 1955 at Peace Lutheran Church near Ulmer. The couple lived in Norfolk, NE for two years while Gerald attended Norfolk Junior College. They moved to Jefferson in 1957 where they raised their three daughters and Gerald worked for National Manufacturing and Darlene was a homemaker. Gerald and Darlene moved to Carroll in 2008 where they built a new home. Darlene enjoyed crocheting, making doll clothes, reading, going to her coffee groups, attending her grandchildren’s activities, and spending time with her family. Darlene is survived by her husband Gerald Ott of 62 years of Carroll; three daughters: Carolyn Hanson (Junior) of Atlantic, LuAnn Carlson of Ankeny, and Lisa Ott of Urbandale; four grandchildren: Allison Deluhery of Des Moines, Alex Carlson (Megan) of Coon Rapids, Ryan Hanson (Brooke) of Villisca, and Eric Carlson (Amanda) of Jefferson; four great grandchildren: Aubrey, Gage, Gretah, and Huxley; a brother-in-law Donald Ott of Jefferson; and several nieces and nephews. Darlene was preceded in death by her parents John and Rosa Buse; her mother and father-in-law Clarence and Ila Ott; and a brother Donald Buse.
