Darlene R. Jensen, age 91, of Carroll passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2019 at Accura Healthcare in Carroll surrounded by her family.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church in Carroll with Rev. Lorinda Hoover officiating.  Organist for the service will be Ellen Severin and congregational hymns will be “In the Garden”, “Amazing Grace”, and “The Old Rugged Cross”.  An honor guard will be formed at the funeral service by the St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary.  Burial will be in the Lanesboro Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 5:00 P.M. on Tuesday where there will be a prayer service held at 6:30 P.M.  The casket will be moved to First United Methodist Church at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday where visitation will resume until the time of service.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com

Born on August 14, 1927 in Lake City, IA, she was the daughter of James Albert and Gladys (Ford) Mount.  She attended school at Jasper #1 in Carroll County through the 8 th grade and continued her education at Lanesboro High School graduating in 1944.  She was employed at the A & P Grocery Store in Lake City until being transferred to the Carroll store where she worked until her marriage to Edwin Jensen on November 12, 1946 at her parent’s farm home near Lanesboro with Rev. Miller officiating.   The couple made their home in Carroll.  Darlene worked for Montgomery Ward for 10 years.  Following the death of her sister June Stouten, Darlene and Edwin opened their home to June’s husband Ray and their four children: Evelyn, James, Fred, and Cathy until Ray remarried.  Darlene returned to the workforce working at Robert Morrow Accounting Firm, Crouse Cartage, and Commercial Savings until her retirement in 1990.  She was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church, and she was an active member of the United Methodist Women serving as Treasurer for 18 years.  She was also a member of the St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary.  She loved her visits from family and friends, she enjoyed counted cross stitch, reading, sports, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes, and vacationing in the Branson area.

Darlene is survived by a sister Linda Mount of Austin, MN, three sisters-in-law Wanda Jensen of Des Moines, IA, Mary Jane Prall (Ed) of Carlisle, IA, and Janice Mount of St. Louis, MO; numerous nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents James Albert and Gladys Mount; her mother and father-in-law Peter and Hazel Jensen; her sister June Stouten; two brothers James Mount and Verlon Mount; and her husband Edwin Jensen in 2011.
