Daniel Lee Toms, age 65, passed away on Friday, March 29, 2013 at the Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden with Pastor Rick Hamilton of Grace Baptist Church officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 – 8 P.M. on Monday at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden. Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery near Glidden followed a luncheon and time to share memories at the Grace Baptist Church in Glidden. Casket bearers will be his brothers: Roger, Mick, Marty and Roy Toms and his sisters: Nan Cheville and Nancy Toms. Military honors will be conducted by the Glidden American Legion. Born on July 13, 1947 in Jefferson, he was the son of Raymond and Nancy (Frazier) Toms. He grew up in Gowrie where he attended school. Dan enlisted in the United States Navy in 1965 and served aboard the USS Coral Sea aircraft carrier of the coast of Vietnam. He lived in several locations after his discharge and moved to Scranton in 1998. He worked for New Way for many years until his retirement. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Glidden. Dan enjoyed playing pool and spending time with his family and friends. Dan is survived by his father Raymond Toms of Scranton; four brothers: Roger Toms and Lisa of Austin, Minnesota, Mick toms and his wife Jeanette of Kearney, Missouri, Marty Toms and his wife Linda of Scranton, and Roy Toms of Scranton; two sisters: Nan Cheville and her husband Ken of Scranton and Nancy Toms and her friend Alex Calderon of Glidden; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Dan was preceded in death by his mother Nancy in 2002.
