Daniel G. Stevens, age 50, of Carroll, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll with Fr. Timothy Johnson and Fr. Merlin Schrad concelebrating. Friends may call at Holy Spirit Church after 3:30 P.M. on Tuesday where there will be a rosary at 4:00 P.M. and a Christian Wake service held at 7:00 P.M.. Lector for the Mass will be Dennis McCartan. Gift Bearers will be Janelle Stevens, Abbie Robinson, Jenny Behrens, and Jill Heithoff. Eucharistic ministers will be Judy Feld, Yvonne Klaver, Paula Kasperbauer, and Doug Bass. Mass servers will be Max Heithoff, Drew Kasperbauer, and Colin Kasperbauer. Casket bearers will be Terry, Tom, Tim, Todd, and Troy Kasperbauer, and Jay Riesberg. Honorary casket bearers will be Xander Kasperbauer, Jim Hinners, Terry Bahlmann, Joel Harris, Kirk Christensen, Kenny Steinkamp, John Perrin, and Chuck Perrin. Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to the American Heart Association.
Born on September 27, 1960 at Carroll, Iowa, he was the son of Donald and Dorothy (Goetzinger) Stevens. He grew up in Templeton and graduated from Kuemper High School in 1979. Following high school he attended Buena Vista University in Storm Lake. He was married to Pat Kasperbauer on July 25, 1981 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Dan has been employed by the Farner Bocken Company for the past 31 years working up to Transportation Director. He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, the Iowa Motor Truck Association of which he was second vice chairman of the association, he served on the Carroll Volunteer Fire Department, and he was active in the American Heart Association. Dan coached football at Carroll High School for 16 years. He was a devoted father, husband, and friend. His children’s friends were always welcome in his home. He loved all sports and the company he worked for Farner Bocken.
Surviving are his wife Pat of Carroll; two sons: Andy Stevens and his wife Janelle of Ankeny, Iowa, and Nick Stevens and his special friend Abbie Robinson of Ames, Iowa; a daughter Sarah Stevens and her special friend Ryan Schutjer of Johnston, Iowa; his mother-in-law Jean Kasperbauer of Carroll; a sister Jean Riesberg of Maple River, Iowa, four sisters-in-law: Maureen Schmidt and her husband Jim of Ames, Iowa, Cherie Horsfall and her husband Joe of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Lori Wuebker and her husband Lee of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, Cathy Koster and her husband Phil of Ankeny, Iowa; five brothers-in-law: Terry Kasperbauer and his wife Lois of Carroll, Iowa, Tom Kasperbauer and his wife Paula of Carroll, Iowa, Tim Kasperbauer and his wife Lori of Sioux City, Iowa, Todd Kasperbauer and his wife Nancy of Ankeny, Iowa, and Troy Kasperbauer and his wife Stacey of Carroll, Iowa; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Dan was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law Andy Kasperbauer, and two brothers-in-law Jim Riesberg and Kevin Pudenz.
