Daniel H. Lawler, age 63, of Carroll passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll with Fr. Timothy Johnson as Celebrant. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 4:00 P.M on Wednesday where there will be a Rosary at 5:00 P.M. and a Christian Wake Service at 7:00 P.M. by Holy Spirit Parish. Lector for the Mass will be Katie Lawler Gift bearers will be: Tessa Lawler, Michelle Loew, and Kyle Cornelius, Casket Bearers will be his brothers: Patrick, Dennis, Ken, Mark, Richard, Tom, Jerry, and brother-in-law Russ Cornelius. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Born on October 19, 1951 in Carroll, he was the son of Louis and AnnaMae (Knobbe) Lawler. He grew up in Carroll and graduated from Carroll High School in 1970. Following high school he enlisted in the United States Navy. Following his military service he moved to Sioux City and worked for Steffen Body and Repair. He moved back to Carroll in 1979 and worked for New Hope Village building and working on customized wheel chairs. He later worked for Advanced Solutions in Johnston, Ia building wheelchairs for children. Dan loved dogs and animals. He also enjoyed woodworking, music, and he dearly loved his daughter Angela.
Dan is survived by a daughter Angela Lawler of St. Paul MN; his mother AnnaMae Lawler of Carroll; two sisters: Marilou Topp (Lornie) of Glidden and Barb Cornelius (Russ) of Carroll; seven brothers: Patrick Lawler (Tracey) of Sioux City, Dennis Lawler (Mary) of Dedham, Ken Lawler of Carroll, Mark Lawler (Beth) of Carroll, Rick Lawler of Sioux City, Tom Lawler (Robyn) of Carroll, and Jerry Lawler (Angie) of Sioux City; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Dan was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Daniel “Vince” and Mary (Clifford) Lawler and maternal grandparents Henry and Anna (Wolterman) Knobbe, his father Louis Lawler, and a great niece Charlotte Harnack.
