Daniel Leo Hight

Daniel Leo Hight, age 70, of Lincoln, NE, and formerly of Scranton, IA, passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at his home.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 14, 2024 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Scranton, Iowa.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, April 15, 2024 at 1:00 P.M. at the Scranton Township Cemetery in Scranton. Casket bearers will be Melanie Horel, Nancy Moravec, Joey Schon, Marlin Hein, Paul Vote, Aiden Horel, Reid Horel, and Charles Schon.

Born on December 6, 1953 in Lake City, Iowa, he was the son of Neil and Betty (Brown) Hight. He grew up on his family's farm south of Scranton and graduated from Scranton Consolidated School in 1972. Following high school, he attended Area I Voc Tech School in Decorah, Iowa, and earned a degree in cosmetology.

He worked in Decorah for several years where he owned and operated his own salon. Dan moved to Milwaukee, WI, in 1979 and to Omaha in 2000.

Dan is survived by sisters, Rebecca Hight-Moravec of Lincoln, NE, and Janet (Dennis) Hendricks of Bagley, IA; nieces: Melanie (Andy) Horel and their sons, Aiden and Reid of Prior Lake, MN, Nancy Moravec also of Prior Lake, MN, Heather (Bryan) Booth and their two children of Bagley, IA, Hope Malone of Jefferson, IA, Denise (Alex) Olson and their two children of Panora, IA, and Morgan (Brad) Westrum and their three children of Stratford, IA.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother-in-law, Ron Moravec.
