Dan F. Egan

Daniel Francis Egan, age 44, of Scranton passed away on Friday, January 2, 2009 at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames following a brief illness. Born on October 3, 1964 at Jefferson, Iowa, he was the son of Donald and Meredith (Young) Egan. He grew up in Scranton where he graduated from Scranton High School in 1984. Dan was a farmer with his father in the Scranton area. After high school he attended Iowa Lakes Community College in Emmetsburg and Iowa Central Community College in Ft. Dodge. He was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Scranton. Surviving are his parents Don and Meredy Egan of Scranton; a sister Susan Egan of Urbandale; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Scranton with Rev. Stephen McLoud officiating. Friends may call at the Dahn & Woodhouse Funeral Home in Scranton after 5:00 P.M. on Monday. Lector for the mass will be Heidi Sickerson. Casket bearers will be Troy Gibson, Jon Baker, Randy Hupp, Jay Robertson, Jeff Juergens, Tim Juergens, Darrin Sickerson, and Kirk Citurs. Honorary casket bearers will be David Cox, Michael Young, Jeremy Sickerson, Steve Hilgenberg, Arnie Swanson, and Jeff Niehaus. Burial will be in the Scranton Township Cemetery near Scranton.
