Daisy Ellen Hyland, age 90, of Lake City, Iowa and formerly of Carroll, Iowa passed away on Friday, August 1, 2008 at Shady Oaks Nursing Home in Lake City. Born on October 19, 1917 at Corydon, Indiana, she was the daughter of William and Ethel (Cunningham) Pankey. She grew up in Lake City where she graduated from High School in ?? Daisy worked for many years at Spurgeons in Carroll and Ocoma Foods. She was married to Leo Olerich on November 27, 1934 at Breda, Iowa. He passed away in 1941. She later married Francis Hyland on October 20, 1955 at Blair, Nebraska. In her spare time she enjoyed puzzles and playing cards. Surviving are a son Ronald L. Olerich and his special friend Lorraine Giardina of Lake City, Iowa; a daughter Pat Stout of Ralston, Iowa and her special friend Bill Schneider of Ames, Iowa; twelve grandchildren; and several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, a son James “Benny” Hyland, a son Delbert Olerich, a sister Dorothy Burk, a daughter-in-law Lois Olerich, a granddaughter Karen, and a great grandson Adrian. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 4, 2008 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Logan Dunham officiating. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 5:00 P.M. on Sunday. Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Kevin Hike, Dennis Leader, Dean Olerich, Kenny Hike, Craig Edwards, and Robert Bird. Honorary casket bearers will be Laura Leader, Connie Adamski, Jim Bird, Carol Olerich, Kathy Edwards, Carla Fischer.
