Craig Lawrence Daniel, age 47, of Lidderdale passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, May 1, 2015 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll with Fr. Timothy Schott of Holy Family Parish in Lidderdale as Celebrant. Concelebrants will be Fr. Edmund Tiedeman, Fr. Robert Gralapp, and Fr. Dale Reiff. Friends may call at Holy Spirit Church in Carroll after 3:30 P.M. on Thursday where there will be a Rosary at 4:00 P.M. and a Christian Wake Service at 7:00 P.M. Visitation will resume at Holy Spirit Church at 9:30 A.M. on Friday until the time of Mass. Music for the Mass will be by the Holy Family Choir. Lector for the Mass will be Bill Stork. Gift bearers will be Zach Daniel, Garrett Daniel, and Jacob Daniel. Mass servers will be Lexi and Regan Gerken. Casket bearers will be Craig Tigges, Dion Hamer, Dick Wernimont, Tim Pietig, Al Pietig, and Craig Schleisman. Burial will be in the Holy Family Cemetery near Lidderdale with a reception and luncheon to follow at the Holy Family Parish Hall in Lidderdale. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Craig’s name and may be left at the church. Born on September 22, 1967 in Carroll, he was the son of Larry and Rosemary (Gerken) Daniel. Craig was raised on his family’s farm northeast of Lidderdale. He graduated from Kuemper High School in 1986. Following high school he attended Western Iowa Tech in Sioux City and then worked for Wilson Trailer as a welder. Craig served six years in the Iowa National Guard. He was married to Renee Tigges on September 24, 1993 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll by Fr. Michael Erpelding. The couple made their home and farmed northeast of Lidderdale. Craig owned a farrow to finish hog operation from 1990 to 2012 with his Dad and brother Clint. He worked as a welder and fabricator for Wernimont Welding and the Lidderdale Country Store Catering. He was a lifelong member of Holy Family Parish in Lidderdale. He was also a member of the Carroll Knights of Columbus. Craig enjoyed hunting, ice fishing, playing slow pitch, camping and bowling. He loved spending time with his family and his faithful dog Gunner.
Craig is survived by his wife Renee of 21 years; two sons: Alec and Hunter Daniel of Lidderdale; his parents: Larry and Rosie Daniel of Lidderdale; two brothers: Chris Daniel and his wife Donna of Abilene, TX, and Clint Daniel and his wife Melinda of Lidderdale; his father-in-law Ivan Tigges of Carroll; two brothers-in-law: Cal Tigges and his wife Betty of Carroll and Craig Tigges and his wife Lori of Mt. Carmel; two sisters-in-law: Denise Hamer and her husband Dion of Carroll and Amy Tigges of Carroll; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Craig was preceded in death by his grandparents and his mother-in-law Charlotte Tigges.
